Vice President Kamala Harris's 2020 tweet has reappeared, sparking criticism in the wake of musician Sean "Diddy" Combs' recent arrest on severe charges.
When Combs held a fundraiser for Harris during her first presidential campaign, the thank-you note was posted. Now that Combs is being charged with several counts of sex trafficking, the tweet is receiving unwelcome attention.
Kamala Harris thanked Sean "Diddy" Combs in a tweet on April 10, 2020, for organising a town hall for her racial inequity campaign.
Harris expressed her gratitude in the tweet, writing: "I want to thank @Diddy for holding this town hall last night. Our communities are now facing many challenges, thus it is imperative that we raise awareness of the ways in which the coronavirus is sustaining racial inequality and health disparities.
Kamala Harris' old ThankYou Note to Diddy sparks controversy after his recent arrest
During the early phases of her 2020 Democratic presidential campaign, Harris used the tweet as part of her outreach efforts. The town hall, which brought together celebrities and political leaders, was a significant event that focused on how COVID-19 affects racial disparity.
Following Sean Combs' recent imprisonment, Harris' 2020 statement became the subject of discussion. The 14-page indictment, which was released in late October, charges the music mogul, who is well-known for his influence on the hip-hop business, with sex trafficking. In order to await trial on three sex trafficking-related charges, Combs was ordered to be detained without bail.
According to the indictment, Combs coerced men and women into taking part in what the docs refer to as Freak Offs by using narcotics and threats.
According to reports, these occasions included prolonged sexual acts during which the victims were sedated to guarantee cooperation. Physical abuse is also described in the indictment, with Combs allegedly "hitting, kicking, throwing objects at, and dragging victims by their hair."
During raids on Combs' residences in Miami and Los Angeles earlier this year, authorities allegedly found numerous guns along with 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. Concern over the rapper's actions was heightened when it was revealed that these objects were utilised in the purported Freak Offs.
Harris's previous tweet was swiftly revived in the public consciousness with the announcement of Combs' arrest. Many social media users commented on the tweet's date, with some making light-hearted remarks about how the message had "aged poorly."
In reference to the things mentioned in the indictment, one commenter joked, "Did you bring the baby oil?" Another person added, "Unburdened by past support of @Diddy," in a hilarious manner.
