In the upcoming comedy Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves receives an angelic transformation.
Reeves plays a guardian angel named Gabriel in the film, which was written and directed by Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation, Master of None) in his directorial debut. (Not to be confused with Gabriel, the angel.) Gabriel is more of a "budget guardian angel," even though you may imagine these custodians carrying out heroic acts of kindness that change people's lives. He primarily intervenes to prevent people from texting and driving.
But when Gabriel meets a lost soul named Arj (Ansari), a struggling gig worker, he gets the chance to have a significant influence. Even though Arj despises rich jerks like tech bro Jeff (Seth Rogen), he longs to live their opulent lifestyle. He spends a lot of time working for them.
Gabriel sees an opportunity to improve Arj's life and determines that he should show him that Jeff's life isn't as bad as it seems in order to make Arj value his own life. To teach his ward that money won't solve all of his problems, he switches Jeff and Arj's positions.
