Wanda Maximoff, often known as the Scarlet Witch, is one of the most nuanced and captivating characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Elizabeth Olsen has portrayed her. Wanda's trajectory has been anything but typical, starting as a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron and progressing to become an Avenger and then a reality-bending power in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Even though a lot of supporters are excited for her to return, Olsen has a requirement for doing so. Here are her thoughts on her possible comeback as the formidable hero-turned-villain.
Elizabeth Olsen recently answered a question regarding the prospect of playing Wanda Maximoff again in upcoming Marvel films on Dublin's FM104 radio station.
Will Elizabeth Olsen return as Scarlet Witch? Find out!
Olsen, who co-stars with Carrie Coon in His Three Daughters, expressed that she would be open to wearing the Scarlet Witch outfit once more. She did clarify, though, that she would only come back if the part fit the character. "If there’s a good way to use [Wanda], I’m always happy to come back, however they can make that make sense," Olsen stated.
Olsen's analysis of Wanda's character arc demonstrates the amount of effort she has put into the part. The actress acknowledged that, while she thought Wanda was given a good role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she believed that her character wasn't given enough attention in subsequent movies.
Olsen mentioned that Wanda's corseted outfit from Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War didn't accurately represent the persona she had in mind.
Olsen thought that Wanda's transformation into the evil Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a little redundant, even though WandaVision assisted in bringing her character back into focus.
Olsen attributed this in part to the fact that Michael Waldron, the author of Multiverse of Madness, had not finished WandaVision by the time he began writing the script.
Olsen also acknowledged that, in spite of the ups and downs, she enjoys Wanda's more erratic, surreal plots in the comics, especially when the character loses control. She is familiar with the character's darker sides, which have shaped a lot of Wanda's path in the comics and the MCU.
Olsen has expressed enthusiasm in seeing this plotline realised on screen, and fans have long demanded a live-action version of House of M, one of the most important and emotionally stirring storylines in Marvel Comics.
It is still uncertain how a plot like House of M would be adapted without significant adjustments, as mutants have not yet been established in the MCU. Nevertheless, Olsen and many Marvel fans who wish to see Wanda's strength and sorrow examined in further detail still find the concept fascinating.
