The New York Times reports that the organisation has already raised $31 million USD to help the Metropolitan Museum of Art, ahead of the celebrities walking the red carpet at the Met Gala 2025, which is just hours away. The attendees, who are dressed in accordance with this year's theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, will shortly be hitting the gala's famous steps.
Following their photo ops on the event's red carpet, the celebrities will be able to observe the exhibition and discuss how the black men, in their own ways, reinvented fashion. This year, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, LeBron James, and Lewis Hamilton were chosen as co-chairs in keeping with the gala's theme. Anna Wintour, the chief editor of Vogue, will accompany the men.
In an interview, Wintour discussed the topic and claimed it was "particularly meaningful and emotional." In addition, she said, "the Black fashion community needs to be supported as much as possible."
Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and others have strolled past the paparazzi in the past, posing, which has raised money for the museum and had a long-lasting effect on cultural aspects.
Additionally, the Vogue editor said, "What I'm hoping that this exhibition will do is really put a light on the talent of all these arbiters of style," during her interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America.
"And examine their customs, their history, and their culture," she added. In a way, though, what matters most to me is that the show makes me think of freedom. I see freedom. I see hope. I see deference. And I see happiness.
Furthermore, some of the regulations are still in place even when the theme is different from the previous year. Visitors are not permitted to bring cell phones to the event, nor are they permitted to consume anything that contains garlic, onions, or any other odorous ingredients.
