India is set to host the inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, a landmark event scheduled from May 1 to 4 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. This summit aims to position India as a global hub for the media and entertainment (M&E) industry, bringing together professionals from sectors such as film, OTT platforms, gaming, digital media, and emerging technologies.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of WAVES 2025, stating that it will provide a new global identity to India's creative prowess. He highlighted that events like WAVES not only generate significant revenue but also build perceptions and push the economy forward.

The summit will feature various tracks, including the Global Media Dialogue with policymakers, the Thought Leaders Track for knowledge-sharing sessions, and the WAVES Exhibition showcasing storytelling innovations and immersive experiences. Additionally, the WAVES Bazaar will facilitate business networking, and the WaveXcelerator will support media startups with mentorship and funding.
Special focus will be given to the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sectors, which are rapidly growing and attracting global attention. The Telangana government has shown strong support for WAVES, highlighting its established ecosystem that promotes innovation in the media and entertainment sector.

WAVES 2025 is expected to serve as a dynamic platform for creators, investors, and industry leaders worldwide, fostering meaningful collaboration and innovation. With India's M&E industry poised to reach a market size of $50 billion by 2029, this summit marks a significant step in the country's journey to becoming a global leader in the field.
