Bring Her Back | Official Trailer 2 HD | A24
Talk to Me, the first horror film directed by Danny and Michael Phillipou, was one of the year's best. With their second movie, Bring Her Back, they are back to frighten us all once more.
Sally Hawkins plays Laura, a new foster mother to Andy (Billy Barratt) and Piper (Sora Wong), in the film Bring Her Back. With Laura, the couple expects stability and a contented home, but they discover something worse.
Laura lost her little daughter Cathy (Mischa Heywood), as the above trailer makes clear. She says she never really found a means to deal with Cathy's absence and is still in shock. Instaed, Cathy's home films appear to give her hope that there is a way to "bring her back."
Although the specifics of that procedure are unknown, we assume it has something to do with Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips), another orphan in Laura's custody. He is shown in the trailer convulsing, bleeding, on the ground, and having an unidentified force crawl beneath his skin. Whatever is going on between him and Laura, it's not good.
Even while the Bring Her Back trailer is full of scary scenes, it also emphasises how sadness will play a part in the movie, much as Mia's (Sophie Wilde) attempts to get back in touch with her mother in Talk to Me. You should expect to be both scared and probably devastated.
On May 30, Bring Her Back opens in theatres.
