The trailer for the much-awaited gangster drama Thug Life, directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam, was first delayed to demonstrate support for the country amid the current situation at the Indo-Pak border.
Bollywood actors Sanya Malhotra, Ali Fazal, and others have important roles in Thug Life, along with Tamil actors Simbu, Trisha, Abhirami, and Ashok Selvan. On June 5, 2025, the movie is expected to be released in theatres. Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal International Films and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies jointly financed this major production.
He recently disclosed the differences in violence between his 1987 film Nayakan and Thug Life.

The senior actor explained how violence in Jackie Chan films differs from his own: "When you watch Jackie Chan films, you don't dislike violence because it is fun." The artist also thought about portraying a variety of characters, even the bad ones. "I have all of my characters, even the bad guys," he remarked.
