The R in Rome will stand for romance in the highly anticipated season 5 of Emily in Paris! Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), Emily Cooper's new Italian beau, will accompany her. According to Variety, the most recent season of the well-liked Netflix series will begin filming in Rome in May before moving to Paris later this summer.
After being assigned by her boss to create an Agence Grateau office, the fifth season will follow the title character as she navigates her life and love in Rome. However, her new blossoming romance is likely to be disrupted by her two one-and-done boyfriends, the attractive Brit, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and the seductive French chef, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo).
While the original production will be placed in Rome, the French cast will return to shoot, most likely during the Paris production. Emily's cool employer, Sylvie Grateau, is played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu. Bruno Gouery and Samuel Arnold will play Julien and Luc again.
Additionally, Ashley Park will reprise her role as Emily's best friend Mindy Chen, who is involved in her romantic triangle. But the actress who portrayed Camille in the show, Camille Razat, will not be returning to the role. Fans were left wondering who would be the antagonist in the next season as a result.
Thalia Besson's character, Geneviève, the antagonist from Season 4, has not yet been signed to return. Her casting may be confirmed later because she is the daughter of French director Luc Besson.
Emily has been doing well in her career thus far on the show, but her love life has been in ruins until she ultimately decided to choose Gabriel over Alfie. Fans finally saw the two characters in a real connection after four seasons of waiting. But when Camille pretended to be pregnant with Gabriel, issues started to arise.
The fifth season of Emily in Paris will debut on Netflix in 2025.
