After making news once more with his show, India's Got Latent, Samay Raina is now dealing with a new problem. Samay and four other people have been asked by the Supreme Court to testify in person because they are alleged to have made offensive comments against people with disabilities. An NGO submitted a petition accusing them of making fun of people with impairments, which resulted in their summons.
A bench led by Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh summoned Samay Raina and four other people, according to an ETimes TV report. For the upcoming hearing, the court further ordered the Mumbai Police Commissioner to bring Samay Raina, Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakar, also known as Sonali Aditya Desai, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar.
If they did not appear before the Supreme Court, the bench threatened to take severe measures against them. Justice Kant said, "Hate speech or any speech meant to demean another… this kind of freedom, if it exists, we will curtail it."

A non-governmental organisation called Cure SMA Foundation of India, which advocates for the rights of individuals with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), has submitted a request to the court. Samay was charged by the foundation of making offensive remarks against a blind individual and a two-month-old child. The infant needed a contribution of Rs 16 crore to receive treatment for spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA.
A prohibition on ableist and disparaging digital content was the goal of the petition. It suggested creating strict rules to protect the rights and dignity of individuals with impairments in internet media.
Aparajita Singh, a senior attorney representing the NGO, argued that the controversial material had "deeply damaging and demoralising effects" on the crippled population.
India's Got Latent was the site of this debate. But after the commotion, all of the episodes were taken down.
