Amaran, which starred Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, was originally released on October 31, 2024, and was scheduled to be available on OTT 28 days later. But according to a report by industry watchdog Sreedhar Pillai, Netflix has delayed the film's OTT distribution by one week.
Notably, despite the Tamil film's great theatrical run, Netflix has chosen to delay its OTT distribution for the first time. Movies are typically made available for online streaming after the theatrical release window has ended. The platform has made this decision since the Sivakarthikeyan film is doing well both critically and at the box office.

The heroic real-life story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who gave his life for the country during an anti-terrorism operation, is told in Amaran, which stars SK and Sai Pallavi in the key roles. The film is based on Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes, which includes a section about the soldier who was martyred.
Both reviewers and viewers have praised the Rajkumar Periasamy-directed biographical war movie. In addition to Sivakarthikeyan and Sai, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Lallu, Shreekumar Ganesh, and numerous more play important parts in the film.
In the future, Sivakarthikeyan will play the lead in AR Murugadoss's untitled film SK23 or SKxARM. Anirudh Ravichander would compose the music and soundtracks for the action thriller, which is rumoured to have Bagheera star Rukmini Vasanth in the lead role.
Additionally, Sivakarthikeyan announced that he will be working with director Cibi Chakravarthy in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla. Following their 2022 blockbuster, Don, the movie would be the actor and director's second joint venture. The actor also revealed that their next project would be an entertainment film and that the same group from Don would be returning.
However, Sai Pallavi will next be seen with Naga Chaitanya in the film Thandel. She also plays the protagonist in the Ranbir Kapoor film Ramayana.
