James Mangold gives an update on Timothée Chalamet's singing in 'A Complete Unknown'
The director of A Complete Unknown, James Mangold, claims that the Call Me By Your Name actress sings in the film. The Walk the Line director stated that Timmy "was a partner in this" project—that is, he provided vocals for the movie—in an interview with Rolling Stone in July 2024.
“You want everyone putting everything on the line every moment,” James remarked to the outlet. "However, it's not as if I can't come up with a different approach or substitute a rhythm if one of our performers strikes a low note. I should have the courage to take a position behind the camera and record if Timmy is willing to put himself out there and be vulnerable. Additionally, Timmy was a partner in the complete deal."
The biopic has been in production for several years, the filmmaker added.
"And because of false starts with Covid and other things, we had to prepare for this movie for several years, which meant that Timmy had to undergo years of incubation as a musician," James continued. In addition, Monica Barbaro was cast in the pre-Indy version of the film. Many of these individuals have so been there for an amazing length of time, and they have made the most of that time in their musical careers.
'A Complete Unknown' was Approved by Bob Dylan Himself
Mangold during an interview also unveiled that Bob Dylan was involved with the film. He explained the entire plot to the folk musician, who approved it by saying, "I like that idea."
