Akshay Kumar and Lokesh Kanagaraj are in talks for a possible collaboration — but nothing is confirmed yet. The rumour surfaced after a meeting between the two, reportedly held earlier this week, with producer Nazeer Ahmed and writer Magesh Balasubramaniam present. No official announcement has been made, and sources confirm the discussions are still in the early stages.

Lokesh Kanagaraj, fresh off the success of Vikram and Kaithi, is already locked into multiple projects: a film with Allu Arjun under Mythri Movie Makers, a sequel to Kaithi, and another with Suriya. His current focus remains on those, though he’s open to creative conversations with Bollywood stars.

The idea of a Lokesh-Kumar film sparks debate, not just because of the director’s Tamil roots and Akshay’s pan-Indian appeal, but because of how rare such crossovers have been. Lokesh’s style. High-octane action, tight scripts, and a distinct visual rhythm, hasn’t translated easily across language lines. Still, his recent work as an actor in DC has kept him in the spotlight.

If it happens, the film would be a major shift. Akshay Kumar has leaned heavily on established directors like Rohit Shetty and Farhad Samji lately. A move toward a filmmaker known for narrative precision over spectacle could signal a new phase. But until then, it’s just talk. And even that might not go anywhere.

Next step: wait for an official statement. Or for the next project to be announced.
