PVR INOX Pictures also confirms Salman Khan's Monster will open on Eid 2027, giving both stars fresh dates on an increasingly crowded release calendar.
Akshay Kumar's Mauja Hi Mauja has finally found a new home on the calendar. The film will now open in the last week of November, according to Kamal Gianchandani, Chief Business Planning & Strategy at PVR INOX Limited and CEO of PVR INOX Pictures Limited, who spoke to Bollywood Hungama about the distributor's upcoming Bollywood and Hollywood slate.
That shift settles a question that's been hanging around for a while. Mauja Hi Mauja was originally slotted for December 4, which would have put Akshay Kumar's comic caper directly up against Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha on the same Friday. Bollywood Hungama had already reported a day before this interview that Akshay's film was moving off December 4, with two possibilities on the table: a second-half-of-November release or a push all the way to 2027. Gianchandani's comments settle it in favour of the former. Eetha, as a result, gets a solo run on its original date.
Directed by Anees Bazmee, Mauja Hi Mauja stars Akshay Kumar alongside Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna. Dil Raju produces under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, with Cape of Good Films co-producing. Bazmee and Akshay have a history of comic hits behind them, and PVR INOX Pictures is clearly banking on the pairing to draw a late-November crowd once the multiplex holds its own slate steady.
The bigger reveal, though, is the release date for Salman Khan's Monster. Gianchandani confirmed the film will hit theatres on Eid 2027, a good year and a half out. Salman has been showing off a leaner, rougher look in public appearances and through his stint on Bigg Boss season 20, and Monster is expected to lean into that macho, stripped-down avatar. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film also stars Nayanthara and Muzammil Ibrahim. It's presented by Dil Raju as a Sri Venkateswara Creations production, with Shirish and Kuldeep Rathore producing and Rafi Kazi co-producing.
Put together, the two dates say something about how PVR INOX Pictures wants to spread its Bollywood bets. Rather than crowding two big male stars into the same window, the distributor is stretching them across more than a year, Akshay landing at the tail end of this year and Salman anchoring an Eid slot that's still a long way off.
Gianchandani also pointed to the company's Hollywood pipeline holding up its end. Primetime opens in Indian cinemas this Friday, and he noted that PVR INOX Pictures has something releasing almost every week right now, a mix of Hollywood pickups and Bollywood titles that has quietly made the outfit one of the busier distributors in the country over the last few years, having handled films like Sooryavanshi, 83, Article 370, Stree 2 and Dhurandhar.
For now, the immediate date to watch is late November, when Mauja Hi Mauja lands without Eetha standing in its way. Whether Eid 2027 holds for Monster, given how often Bollywood release dates move, is a separate question entirely.
