It started with a missing name on an anniversary post and ended with Amaal Mallik invoking Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt's tempers to describe his own.

Salman Khan Films put out a tribute this week to mark ten years of "Main Hoon Hero Tera," the 2015 track from Hero. The post didn't mention Amaal Mallik as composer. He noticed, said so, and the post got edited to add his credit. That should have been the end of it.

It wasn't. Once the correction went up, a section of social media turned on Amaal anyway, calling him ungrateful for pointing out an omission on a song he wrote music for. Some of that criticism, according to Amaal, spilled over into comments about his family — and that's where he drew the line.

On Wednesday, he posted what he called a "statutory warning" on X. "Not a word about my family will be tolerated," he wrote, adding that going after him was fine, going after his people wasn't. He followed it with a line that's already doing the rounds: "Music ka SRK hoon main, magar gussa mera Salman Khan aur Sanjay Dutt wala hai."

He used the same post to lay out, credit by credit, how the song actually came together. Armaan Malik sang the original version, which is what got played to Salman Khan and director Nikhil Advani in the first place. Amaal composed it, Kumaar wrote the lyrics, Armaan sang it, and only after that did it go to Khan. "Without Me & Kumaar sir, there would be no song to sing," he wrote, adding that he's never denied what Khan's version did for the track, but wondering aloud why the people who built it get dropped from the celebration every year.

The post also carried a more personal note. Amaal referenced his father Daboo Malik, and the family's known estrangement, to say that whatever divides them privately, he stands with them publicly against outside attacks. "Amaal Mallik unke saath khada tha, hai aur rahega bhi," he wrote, he stood with them, stands with them, will keep standing with them. Anyone looking to test that, he added, should "clash at your own risk."

Whether Salman Khan Films responds to any of this, or whether the row simply burns out on timelines by the weekend, isn't clear yet. Salman Khan himself hasn't commented. What is on record is that the credit has been fixed, the warning has been posted, and Amaal Mallik has made it plain he isn't done watching his mentions.
