Polka dots don't usually get a moment. They get a season, maybe two, before someone declares them dated again. But right now five different actresses are wearing them five different ways, and none of the looks feel like a costume party.

Start with the one that's hardest to ignore. Aneet Padda paired a playful polka-dot top with plain black leggings, an odd-sounding combination on paper, then threw in a pair of bright red heels that do all the talking. It shouldn't work as a monochrome-plus-pop formula. It does.

Ananya Panday went the other direction entirely, choosing a sheer black outfit with oversized dots and a gold chain running through it. This is polka dots as editorial statement rather than sweet retro throwback, dramatic proportions and all. It's the kind of look built for a magazine cover, not a coffee run.

Vaani Kapoor took the print after dark. Her sheer, figure-skimming silhouette and strappy heels suggest polka dots don't have to stay in daytime dressing, that the pattern can carry an evening look just as easily as a picnic dress.

Pratibha Ranta and Barkha Singh stayed closer to the print's old-school roots, but with their own twists. Ranta chose an asymmetrical polka-dot skirt with an uneven hemline, paired with a fitted top and a voluminous blowout that leans hard into vintage glamour. Singh went sweeter, a fitted crop top and a flowy black-and-white skirt finished with a bow, the kind of look that reads romantic rather than retro-ironic.

What's interesting is how little these five looks have in common beyond the print itself. One is sheer and editorial. One mixes textures that shouldn't mix. One is built for a party after 9 pm. Two lean into the pattern's vintage history without feeling costume-y. That spread is probably why the print is having a moment again instead of just cycling back as a nostalgia trend.

Bollywood's relationship with any print tends to follow the same arc, a handful of celebrities pick it up, stylists start pitching it for red carpets, and within a few weeks it's everywhere from Instagram grids to airport looks. Polka dots seem to be somewhere in the middle of that cycle right now. Whether it survives past this month, or gets swapped out for the next print someone's stylist is pushing, is the only real question left.
