Anil Kapoor isn't about to second-guess Salman Khan's chair.

In an exclusive conversation with the Free Press Journal, the actor was asked the obvious question every host eventually gets: would he do things differently if he were the one running Bigg Boss? His answer was diplomatic but direct.

"Not really. Salman has made that show his own over the years," Kapoor said. He credited Salman's pull with audiences to something simple — the host doesn't perform the role, he just is himself in it. "He approaches it in a way that feels completely natural to him," Kapoor added.

But he didn't dodge the hypothetical entirely.

"Every host has their own personality and instincts. If I were sitting in that chair, I would probably handle certain situations differently simply because I'm a different person, but that's neither right nor wrong. That's just what makes each host unique," Kapoor told FPJ.

It's a fair point, and a diplomatic one. Bigg Boss has survived multiple hosts over the years without losing its audience, and Kapoor's framing suggests he sees that as proof the show is bigger than any one chair.

The Top 1% question

The interview also had Kapoor playing a different game, picking his first three names for an imaginary team representing Bollywood's 'Top 1%'. No hesitation here.

Shah Rukh Khan came first. "Shah Rukh Khan would definitely be on the team because he has a very unique and unconventional way of looking at things," Kapoor said.

Farah Khan was next, picked for her instincts rather than her resume. "Her observational skills are incredible and she notices details most people miss," he said.

And for the third slot, Anupam Kher, chosen for pure quick thinking. "He's quick on his feet and can think his way through almost any situation," Kapoor said, before adding a caveat with a laugh: "Whether they'd all agree with each other's answers is another matter altogether!"

As for whether he's actually tuning into Bigg Boss 20 himself, Kapoor didn't hesitate. "Of course. Bigg Boss has become such a big part of popular culture that it's difficult not to keep an eye on what's happening," he said, adding that he has "a lot of affection" for the show and its team, and that a Salman-hosted season always delivers "plenty of memorable moments."

No word yet on whether Kapoor's own hosting gig, India Ke Top 1%, will cross paths with Bigg Boss 20 on the ratings charts this season. Both shows are currently running in parallel, and that comparison isn't going away anytime soon.
