Bigg Boss 20 doesn't wait for television tonight. JioHotstar gets the premiere at 9 PM, a full ninety minutes before Colors TV airs it at 10.30, and Salman Khan is back at the door to let the first batch of contestants in.
The twist this year has a name already. Salman put it simply in a promo: "Bigg Boss mein milega, meri jaan... Extra jeevan daan" — an extra shot at life once the house claims its first casualty. What that actually means for eliminations, the show hasn't spelled out yet.
One name is locked. Rhiti Tiwari, musician and daughter of actor-politician Manoj Tiwari, is confirmed for this season. Her father was a contestant back in Season 4, so there's a bit of history repeating here. In the promo, Salman warns her not to fight over eggs inside the house, then tells her, half-joking, not to bring up his father. Rhiti fires back with a dad joke of her own and both men crack up. It's a small moment but it's the only confirmed contestant beat the makers have actually locked down before the stage lights come on.
Everything else on the contestant list is still rumour. Boxer Mary Kom's name has come up. So has Badshah's estranged wife Isha Rikhi, Rhiya Ahir, who went viral during the NEET protests for stopping a police van. Faisal Khan, Karan Wahi's ex Uditi Singh, Kushal Tanwar, Qazi Touqeer, Yung DSA and Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik Chakraborty. None of it is confirmed by the makers as of the premiere, and Hindustan Times notes viewers actually got to vote between Rhiya Ahir and one Love Gill for a house spot, with Salman set to announce the winner on air tonight.
The house itself leans hard into a theme this season. Alice in Wonderland, redone as a reality set: a shark-themed pool, a giant pink teapot pouring into a couch, a hot-air balloon repurposed as seating. There are 104 cameras running through it and two secret rooms, one of which, Room No. 20. The makers are keeping shut for now. No word on what's inside, or when it opens up to the contestants.
Gaurav Khanna took the trophy last season. Whether this cast, rumoured or confirmed, can hold a room for the next few months starts getting tested the moment the doors open tonight. The bigger question is what that extra jeevan daan actually costs someone down the line, and Bigg Boss isn't in the habit of answering that on day one.
