Six days into Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8, the house has lost its first contestant to an actual public vote. Dhanya, the stunt performer known inside the house as Kaali, has been evicted, according to Filmibeat Malayalam.

She isn't the first contestant to leave this season, but she is the first to go by audience choice. Gayathri Suresh exited earlier, and that one had nothing to do with viewers. As part of a task set by Bigg Boss, house leader Jaseela was handed the call on who stays and who goes. Jaseela and her two lieutenants, Mridula Vijay and Sumesh, ran an internal vote first. Rini came out on top of that shortlist. But instead of sending Rini out, Jaseela used her leader's privilege to spare her and put Gayathri's name forward instead. Nobody else in the house challenged that decision.

Which is a little strange, given the season's stated theme is meant to be democracy. Mohanlal raised exactly that point on the weekend episode, questioning why a house built around collective decision-making let one leader's personal call go unopposed.

That's the backdrop against which Kaali's eviction is landing hard with a section of viewers. Contestants like Aiswarya, Rini and Sreelaya have largely played it safe through the opening week, and some fans feel the wrong person went home. Kaali, by most accounts, was one of the more active players in the house. Online reactions have been blunt about it, several comments online, as reported by Filmibeat Malayalam, question why Rini keeps drawing sympathy votes and argue her run in the house has leaned entirely on emotional moments and tears rather than any real gameplay.

The house is set to change shape again almost immediately. Reports say two wild cards are entering to fill the gap Kaali leaves behind, Tashi and Shibina, both familiar to Malayalam reality television audiences from their run on Agnipariksha. If that report holds, it's a significant swing. Both are considered strong, camera-ready players who impressed on their previous show, and their arrival is expected to complicate life for Shijin, who has been running a quiet isolation strategy through the first week. So far only Eldho in the house appears to have clocked what Shijin is doing. Tashi and Shibina walking in with fresh eyes and no existing alliances could force that strategy into the open, and reports suggest they're unlikely to have much patience for manufactured couple angles or overly sweet,
