Chase Infiniti is stepping into the spotlight with a new role that could define her next phase: leading a major horror film under Lionsgate. The studio has officially greenlit 'Portrait of God,' a feature adaptation of a cult YouTube short by emerging filmmaker Dylan Clark. The project, once held by Universal before being passed on, now finds its home with Lionsgate — where it’s poised to become Clark’s first studio-backed feature.

The film will mark the first collaboration between horror titans Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele, who are producing through their respective shingles, Ghost House and Monkeypaw Productions. Raimi, currently prepping an adaptation of the 1978 film 'Magic,' is deeply involved in the project, as is Joe Russo, known for his work on 'The Inheritance.' The script is co-written by Russo and Clark, drawing from the original short that gained over 10 million views since 2022.

The short centers on a young woman named Mia who presents a mysterious artwork titled 'Portrait of God.' Viewers report seeing different things, a blank void or a figure described consistently across accounts. The opening quote from the Old Testament, "No man shall see Me and live," sets a tone of dread and theological unease. It’s minimalistic, unnerving, and deliberately ambiguous.

Infiniti, fresh off her breakout performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 'One Battle After Another'. Which earned her nods at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Actor Awards, is no stranger to high-stakes roles. Her recent turn in Hulu’s 'The Testaments' also earned her an Emmy nomination. She’s now preparing for her next indie drama, 'The Julia Set,' which premiered at TIFF.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson praised the team: "We believe they have all the ingredients for a film that is haunting, thought-provoking, and scary as hell." The studio sees this as a chance to replicate the success of films like 'Obsession' and 'Backrooms,' which rose from online virality.

Oddly, Universal passed on the project after acquiring the spec in December 2025. Now, Lionsgate is betting big on Clark’s vision. And on Infiniti’s rising star power. No release date has been announced yet, but production is expected to begin soon.
