TMZ obtained set footage showing a scene that closely mirrors the January death of Renee Good, shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, as protesters gathered outside filming in Livingston.
TMZ has obtained video from the set of a Daily Wire film that recreates, almost beat for beat, the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent earlier this year.
The footage was shot in Livingston, Montana, where the production has been working through a sequence that TMZ says closely tracks Good's January death in Minneapolis. In the real incident, 37-year-old Good was shot four times in her SUV by federal immigration agent Jonathan Ross as she tried to drive away on a residential street. Her death set off national outrage over how the encounter unfolded.
The clip obtained by TMZ shows a Toyota ramming into an ICE van, backing up, and then taking two gunshots through the windshield, one to the neck, one to the head, before the vehicle crashes into a curb. It is a near-literal restaging of what happened to Good, down to the sequence of impacts.
Production sources told TMZ that Good's name never appears anywhere in the script. That detail will do little to calm the backlash already building around the project, currently titled "Pawn Shop," which centers on ICE operations, street protests and gang violence. Protesters could reportedly be heard at the edges of the set while cameras rolled, a sign of how fast word of the scene's content has traveled.
Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire has leaned into politically charged subject matter before, but restaging a real, recent death by federal agents is a different order of controversy. TMZ's report does not include any on-record comment from Daily Wire, Shapiro, or anyone attached to the production explaining the creative decision or addressing the obvious parallels.
Worth remembering here: Ross has not been convicted of anything, and the facts of Good's shooting remain disputed in the way that any fatal use-of-force incident gets disputed, through competing accounts, agency statements and, likely eventually, litigation. A film that dramatizes the moment without naming her risks being read as commentary on an unresolved matter rather than a finished one.
There is no confirmed release date for "Pawn Shop," and Daily Wire has not put out a statement responding to the TMZ footage or the protests at the Montana shoot. Whether the studio changes course on the sequence, leans further in, or stays silent until the film is closer to release is, for now, the only real open question.
Expect more from Good's family, from ICE, or from Daily Wire itself before this one goes away.
