Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the only Hindi film in 2026 to cross ₹1,800 crore worldwide — and it’s not even close. Sacnilk puts its total at ₹1,813.39 crore, with ₹1,375.39 crore from India alone. That’s more than double the next highest film, Border 2, which sits at ₹450 crore worldwide.
The gap isn’t just big. It’s absurd. And yet, it makes sense. A spy thriller with Ranveer Singh in a dual role, released across five languages on Republic Day weekend, didn’t just open, it detonated.
Bollywood Hungama recorded a ₹90 crore opening day for the Hindi version. Seven days in, it was already ₹649 crore. No other film this year has come close to that momentum. Not even Hanuman Ansh, which quietly became the biggest surprise of the year.
Its opening? ₹0.10 crore. By October, it had crossed ₹319 crore in India. And Sacnilk says it’s the top-grossing Indian film of the July–September quarter. No star power.
No hype. Just steady legs. Then there’s Drishyam: The Conclusion. Ajay Devgn’s thriller, still running after seven days, hit ₹383.60 crore worldwide, his highest ever.
It’s the only film in the top five still adding big daily numbers. That’s rare. Most films peak early. This one keeps growing.
The web series adaptation, Mirzapur The Movie, also made waves. Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu. They brought the small screen to the big one. ₹339.55 crore worldwide. A streaming franchise pulling crowds into theatres?
That’s not just a win. It’s a signal. Akshay Kumar’s horror comedy, Cocktail 2, and the Welcome sequel both cleared ₹200 crore. But the real story isn’t just the numbers.
It’s what they mean. Hindi films pulled in ₹997.20 crore net between July and September, more than any other Indian language in that window. August was the strongest month. Four Hindi films made the top 10.
One of them. Hanuman Ansh, wasn’t even expected to survive its first week. Yet here it is, leading the pack. Trade figures vary.
