Forgotten Island has grossed $50.2 million worldwide after four weekends — but it’s still $30 million short of recouping its $80 million production cost, according to media reports cited by Koimoi. The DreamWorks Animation feature, released on September 25, has pulled in $30.3 million domestically and $19.9 million internationally across 46 markets, with several territories yet to release the film.

Its latest North American weekend brought just $4.5 million, a 38% decline from the prior frame, marking a steady drop in momentum. Overseas, the film earned $3.5 million during its fourth weekend, down 27.1%, a modest fall, but not enough to sustain a profitable run. Despite being one of the few prominent animated films currently in theaters, Forgotten Island is struggling to stand out amid a crowded lineup.

Some critics have praised it as one of DreamWorks’ best efforts lately, particularly for its visuals and cultural representation. The story follows two best friends who find themselves stranded in the mystical world of Nakali, where escape comes at the cost of their shared memories. While the film has drawn positive reviews, its box office performance remains underwhelming.
