Drishyam The Conclusion Opens To Rs 62 Crore, Ajay Devgn's Biggest Ever

Rs 62.03 crore. That's what Drishyam: The Conclusion pulled in on its opening Friday, which also happened to be Gandhi Jayanti, and it's rewritten what we thought we knew about Ajay Devgn's box office ceiling.

Trade had pegged the film somewhere between Rs 40 crore and Rs 50 crore going in, a solid but unremarkable number for a sequel to a franchise built on thrillers, not spectacle. It cleared that range by a distance. Rediff's Joginder Tuteja, compiling Devgn's ten biggest openers, notes this isn't just the actor's career-best day-one number in a run spanning more than 25 years. It's now among the top five opening days for any Hindi film, period.

That's a strange thing to say about a film with no action set pieces, no franchise-brand noise like a Singham or a Golmaal. Drishyam: The Conclusion is, by genre, a tense, talky thriller. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, it's riding almost entirely on the goodwill built by Drishyam 2, which Rediff's list shows opened at Rs 15.38 crore in 2022 before growing into a Rs 240 crore hit. The sequel effect has clearly compounded. What took Drishyam 2 an entire theatrical run to prove, part three has apparently settled by lunchtime on day one.

Put the number next to the rest of Devgn's career and the gap is obvious. Singham Again, his previous best, opened at Rs 43.70 crore during Diwali 2024, a holiday weekend with built-in footfall and a clash with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to boot. Singham Returns managed Rs 32.09 crore back in 2014, a number Rediff calls genuinely hard to hit for that era. Golmaal Again crossed Rs 30 crore in 2017. None of them come close to what Drishyam: The Conclusion has done on a Friday that wasn't even a traditional festival weekend release slot like Diwali.

It also caps a run of form for Devgn this year. Dhamaal 4 opened at Rs 13.72 crore earlier in 2026 and went on to cross Rs 150 crore despite mixed reviews, on the strength of word of mouth. Now the Drishyam closer has arrived and simply dwarfed it.

What happens next matters more than the opening number itself. Drishyam 2 doubled its first-day collection by the time it wrapped its theatrical run and kept climbing from there. If Drishyam: The Conclusion follows anything like that trajectory off a Rs 62 crore base, Bollywood's talking about a very different kind of blockbuster math this Diwali season. The weekend numbers, and whether word of mouth holds through the week, will tell us if this was an event-day spike or the start of something bigger.
