Drishyam The Conclusion Set For Massive Opening Day Haul

Early estimates put Ajay Devgn's third Drishyam film at Rs 60-70 crore for day one, enough to beat the first film's entire theatrical run in a single day.

Drishyam: The Conclusion is in theatres and, going by early estimates reported by Free Press Journal, it's about to have a very good Friday. The projection is Rs 60-70 crore for day one in India, a number that could climb further if night shows pull in bigger crowds than expected.

That figure matters because of what it's up against. The original Drishyam, released back in 2015, earned Rs 67.13 crore across its entire theatrical life. If the estimate holds, Ajay Devgn's new film could match or beat that total in a single day. Drishyam 2, which came out in 2022, had opened at Rs 15.38 crore net. Part three is positioned to clear that mark by a wide margin on day one alone.

Advance bookings had already signalled this coming. Free Press Journal's report describes the pre-release numbers as strong, which tends to be the clearest early read on how a franchise film will actually perform once it hits screens.

The film brings back Devgn alongside Tabu, with Shriya Saran and Jaideep Ahlawat rounding out the cast, and is directed by Abhishek Pathak. Reviews so far have landed mostly positive. Free Press Journal's own review gave it three stars, noting that "the movie stays true to its name, showing only what you need to see at that point, and revealing the rest later." Online, the reaction skews similarly warm, with fan discussion threads calling the first two films in the series "SO PEAK" and debating, half-seriously, whether a hypothetical Drishyam 3 could have gone the horror route instead. It hasn't, but the appetite for the franchise clearly hasn't dimmed.

The budget question

The makers haven't officially confirmed what Drishyam: The Conclusion cost to make. Reported figures put it at around Rs 110 crore, though that number hasn't come from the production itself. If the day-one estimates are accurate, the film could be within striking distance of recovering that budget by the end of its second day in theatres, a quick turnaround by Hindi film standards for a thriller without big action set pieces or an overseas marketing push to match.

What happens next depends on how the numbers actually land once official figures come in over the weekend, and how well the film holds on Saturday and Sunday rather than just its opening push. Drishyam films have historically been strong word-of-mouth performers rather than pure opening-day spectacles, so the real test for The Conclusion starts after the first 24 hours, not during them.
