Prime Video's rural comedy returns October 1 with its full original cast intact and Dinesh Lal Yadav joining a village now undone by a mobile tower instead of a stolen buffalo cart.
Dhadakpur's crime-free reputation didn't last long. Prime Video released the Dupahiya Season 2 trailer on Sunday, confirming the show returns October 1 in India and across more than 240 countries and territories, and this time the village's undoing isn't a stolen cart, it's a mobile tower.
The trailer picks up right where season one left off. Banwari's family, now minor celebrities thanks to Bhugol's fame, finds a new tower on their barren land turning into the season's engine of rumour, superstition and general village hysteria. Roshini, meanwhile, is trying to get through her SSC exams with Amavas hovering nearby, which anyone who's watched season one knows is less help than hindrance.
Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Yashpal Sharma are all back. The new addition is Dinesh Lal Yadav, the Bhojpuri star known as Nirahua, stepping into Dhadakpur's already crowded chaos.
Director Sonam Nair, quoted by Bollywood Hungama, called Dupahiya "one of my favourite projects" and said the fandom built around season one gives her confidence the follow-up lands the same way. Gajraj Rao echoed that, telling the outlet the show's small-village setting hides relationships and struggles that "feel familiar to everyone," whether the viewer is in a metro or watching from outside India.
Renuka Shahane, back as Pushplata, said the series finds its comedy in "the most ordinary moments" while staying grounded, and that season two ups the stakes without losing what she called the "beating heart of Dhadakpur." Shivani Raghuvanshi, reprising Roshni, went further, describing her character as carefree, a little spoilt and impulsive, someone who drags everyone around her into trouble along with her. She said this season revealed more layers to Roshni than she expected going in.
Bhuvan Arora, who plays Amavas, said his character has matured in ways that caught even him off guard, while Sparsh Shrivastava, back as Bhugol, said the new season let him push past the character's simple surface into something more unpredictable.
Dupahiya's first season, created and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg and produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under Bombay Film Cartel LLP, built a reputation as one of Prime Video's sleeper Hindi hits, the kind of show that didn't need a starry cast to find an audience. Whether the sequel can repeat that trick with a bigger ensemble and a Bhojpuri superstar thrown into the mix is the real question hanging over October 1.
For now, Dhadakpur's crime-free tag looks permanently retired. The tower's going up, the rumours are already spreading, and Prime Video is betting viewers will show up for round two of the madness.
