A fire broke out on a temporary shooting structure in Film City, Goregaon East, at 4:02 PM on Monday, October 5, 2026. The blaze was extinguished by 4:55 PM, according to Mumbai Fire Brigade records. The incident was classified as a Level-I fire, confined to electrical wiring, cables, wooden planks, an AC unit, bamboo, plastic materials, and some sound systems and equipment within a PCR unit. No injuries were reported. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) president, BN Tiwari, confirmed the event and said it occurred in a tented area outside the studio where Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is being shot. He noted that this wasn’t the first such incident — a similar fire had occurred nearby days earlier, and that FWICE had since issued safety reminders to all producers. ‘Due to carelessness,’ he said, ‘this fire incident happened.’ Still, he stressed that the damage was minor and no one was hurt. The fire did not originate on the actual Ramayana set, the film’s team clarified. A statement from the production confirmed that the viral footage circulating online was not from their shoot. The visuals instead appeared to show a different temporary setup. Despite the denial, speculation quickly linked the fire to Ramayana, given its high-profile status and imminent release. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, is scheduled for global release on November 6, 2026. The confusion intensified when reports surfaced that the fire may have started on the set of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2, a Colors TV series currently in production, before spreading toward the Hustle 5 set. Both shows are reportedly located in the same vicinity. However, no official confirmation has been issued by either production team regarding disruptions or damage. Mumbai police, BMC ward control, and 108 ambulance services were mobilised to the scene. While the immediate danger passed, the incident has raised fresh concerns about safety protocols on film sets. With Ramayana’s theatrical launch just weeks away, any delay. Even indirect, could impact final edits, marketing timelines, and distribution logistics. The makers now face creative pressure and scrutiny over operational preparedness. And with the fire having sparked widespread online discussion, the narrative around the film’s production has taken a sudden turn. One that’s less about myth and more about machinery.
