Gia Giudice is standing by her younger sister. On a podcast promoting her new restaurant, Il Vero in Westwood, New Jersey, the 25-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey star said she's "incredibly proud" of Milania Giudice, 20, for a video the younger sister posted on Instagram this week laying out her mental health struggles in detail.

"We've been going through things, and I just want to say that I'm incredibly proud of my sister Milania," Gia said, calling her sibling "really amazing" for going public.

In the video, posted Monday, Milania said she has bipolar disorder and also deals with depression, anxiety, PTSD and ADHD. She said she thought about waiting until she "looked good" to post it, then decided against it because that's not who she is. She's currently in a treatment center, something her parents have both acknowledged.

"I am not ashamed of any of my mental health disorders because I'm currently in a treatment center," she said, adding that her mother Teresa was on her way to visit. "I am only 20 years old, and this summer hit me like a bus."

That line isn't an exaggeration. Milania was arrested in May for domestic violence, allegedly punching a family member at home, and was charged with simple assault and ordered into anger management. In July, her childhood best friend Victoria Zardoya died after a fall while exploring the ruins of Fort Dade in Tampa. Her great-grandmother died two months after that, shortly before turning 99. Page Six has reported Milania was previously having suicidal thoughts, which is why she's now under professional care.

The video followed a very public blowup. Milania and Teresa clashed at a Florida airport, a confrontation that spilled onto social media before Milania posted it and then deleted it. Page Six reported that in body-cam footage from the incident, Teresa speculated her daughter might have fentanyl in her system, while Milania compared her own situation to Britney Spears being placed under a conservatorship. Milania has since apologized to Teresa for the altercation.

Her father, Joe Giudice, who's been barred from re-entering the US since serving over three years on federal fraud charges, told Page Six his daughter is "a good girl" who "loves deeply" and is going through "a very difficult period right now."

Gia, meanwhile, used the same podcast appearance to push a separate cause: getting her father back into the country. She and Teresa were at the White House last weekend for a Columbus Day event celebrating Italian-American heritage, and Gia said the trip was partly about exploring options for Joe, whether a visa or a pardon.

"It was truly inspiring, and I think it just gave me more motivation to want to fight even harder to get my dad back," she said, asking people to "pray for our family to be united again."

For now, the more immediate story is Milania's recovery and whether the family can keep this round of attention from undoing the progress she says she's making in treatment.
