Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan's neo-noir thriller Haiwaan heads to streaming on November 6, following a theatrical release that underperformed.
Haiwaan is finally getting its digital due. After a theatrical run that ended in disappointment, the film will premiere on OTT platforms on November 6, 2026.
The movie, a Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, stars Akshay Kumar as Parshuram Gokhale and Saif Ali Khan as Shyam Rane, a blind martial artist entangled in a deadly game with a psychopathic killer. The film was released in cinemas on September 11, 2026, but failed to impress either critics or audiences, earning mixed-to-negative reviews and a weak opening at the box office.
This marks the first time Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have shared screen space since Tashan in 2008. Their reunion, once hyped as a major event, now feels like a footnote — overshadowed by the film’s commercial failure.
The cast also includes Shriya Pilgaonkar as Naina, Saiyami Kher as Inspector Varsha Joshi, Rajpal Yadav as Chandu, Boman Irani as Judge Pradhan, and Kanchan Pagare as Sudhir, the security guard. It’s also the final film appearance of veteran actor Asrani, who passed away in October 2025.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under KVN Productions and Thespian Films, the screenplay was co-written by Rohan Shankar, Priyadarshan, and Abilash Nair. Despite the star power and nostalgic appeal, Haiwaan didn’t find its audience.
Now, with the theatrical window closed, the focus shifts to streaming. November 6 isn’t just a date, it’s the last chance for the film to find an audience beyond the theatres where it stumbled.
Will Haiwaan’s OTT launch revive interest? Or will it remain a cautionary tale of high expectations and low returns?
For now, the answer lies in the algorithm.
