Forty-one days. That's how long it took Hanuman Ansh to go from a Rs 10 lakh opening day to a worldwide gross past Rs 300 crore.

The film released in India on August 7, 2026, and nobody would have called it a hit off that first number. The next few days weren't much better either. For over two weeks, Hanuman Ansh sat quietly in theatres, the kind of run that usually ends with a film vanishing off screens by the second Friday.

It didn't vanish. On day 17, something shifted. The film crossed Rs 2 crore in a single day for the first time, and from that point on it never really slowed down. Daily collections stayed in crore territory, climbing steadily rather than spiking and fading the way word-of-mouth hits sometimes do.

The real jump came with the worldwide rollout on September 11, more than a month after the domestic release. Overseas numbers added fuel to what was already building at home. By day 31, Hanuman Ansh had logged its single biggest domestic day, Rs 22.75 crore, a number that looks almost absurd next to that opening Rs 10 lakh.

Ten days later, on day 41, the film crossed the Rs 300 crore mark in gross collections globally.

Prithviraj weighs in

The milestone earned Hanuman Ansh a shoutout from an unexpected quarter. Prithviraj Sukumaran, at a promotional event for his upcoming film Daayra, directed by National Award winner Meghna Gulzar, brought up the film unprompted while talking about budgets and scale in Indian cinema.

"The budget of a film does not govern its scope anymore," he said. "It's just the content. If the budget of a film governed the scope, we wouldn't be talking about Hanuman Ansh today."

It's a fair point given how this one started. A film that made ten lakh on its first day has ended up in a conversation usually reserved for the year's biggest openers, and it got there without a single explosive weekend, just a long, stubborn climb.

Filmfare also reported that sequels to Hanuman Ansh are being planned, though no timeline or scale has been confirmed yet.

What's next for Vishal Chaturvedi

Off the back of this run, director Vishal Chaturvedi has already announced his next project. Titled Rambola, the film will be based on the life of Mahakavi Goswami Tulsidas and will trace the poet's journey. Chaturvedi is writing and directing, with Mahaveer Jain Films presenting.

No cast or release window has been announced for Rambola yet. For now, Hanuman Ansh keeps adding to its tally daily, and the question is how much higher it climbs before the run finally cools off.
