Two days. That's how long Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet lasted at their first school back in the UK before their parents pulled them out and enrolled them somewhere new.

Hello! Magazine broke the story Monday, reporting that Harry and Meghan's decision came down to logistics, not the school itself. The family's new home sits far enough from the campus that keeping security vehicles together in convoy became a problem, particularly once traffic built up during term time. TMZ and Page Six have since confirmed the move.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex kept things brief and pointed. "The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family's security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements," the rep said, adding that the parents remain "extremely grateful" to the staff at the first school and that the switch "should in no way be interpreted as a reflection" on the care Archie and Lilibet received there.

According to Hello!, the couple's security team had actually cleared the school over the summer. What they couldn't test until classes resumed was the daily run itself, and that's reportedly where things fell apart. One incident is said to have made it hard for the convoy to stay together, pushing the concerns to a head.

A source close to the family told Hello! The whole thing stings a bit. "It's a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents," the source said. "It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there. They really wanted to make it work, but they had to make a difficult decision based on the fact that the team couldn't make the school run operationally secure."

Archie and Lilibet were reportedly enrolled at a nearby school on Monday, and Harry was spotted with his daughter at the new reception. Page Six adds that the couple, now settling into English parent-group life, have already been added to the school's WhatsApp chat, which is either the most normal thing in this entire story or the strangest, depending on how you look at it.

The timing isn't incidental. Per the Telegraph, Harry is still pushing for taxpayer-funded protection despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020, and the couple was granted a security review last week tied to their return to England. That review reportedly asked them to lay out their everyday routines, school runs included.

Harry and Meghan moved back to be closer to King Charles as he continues cancer treatment, Page Six has reported. Whether this second school sticks, or whether the security math forces another move, is the next thing worth watching.
