I’m Game hits JioHotstar on November 6 — two months after its theatrical debut, marking the digital premiere of Dulquer Salmaan’s fantasy action film, which critics described as a mixed bag and audiences largely overlooked. The movie, released in theatres on September 3, 2026, now finds its second life on streaming, with no fanfare, no re-release campaign, and no indication of a revival strategy from the distributor.
JioHotstar confirmed the date via social media, stating simply: “The game is about to begin!”
The film, produced by Dulquer Salmaan and Jom Varghese under Wayfarer Films, stars Dulquer in the lead role as Dan John, a wealthy but irresponsible young man from Hyderabad whose gambling addiction spirals out of control. After a serious road accident leaves one of his arms beyond recovery, he undergoes a hand transplant.
When he regains consciousness, he discovers the new limb moves on its own, and carries the lingering consciousness of Vicky, a celebrated cricketer who died under mysterious circumstances. Vicky’s spirit, driven by a need for vengeance, begins guiding Dan into a dangerous confrontation with Toni, a powerful figure controlling an extensive cricket network.
Dan is reluctantly drawn into this battle, aided by Isha, a physiotherapist played by Samyuktha Viswanathan, who helps him understand the supernatural connection. As the story unfolds, Dan shifts from self-serving ambition to a fight for justice, using the hand’s extraordinary strength to dismantle Toni’s empire. The film blends elements of thriller, supernatural drama, and high-stakes action, though reviews questioned its tonal consistency and narrative focus.
The technical team includes cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, editor Chaman Chacko, music composer Jakes Bejoy, and production designer Ajayan Chalissery. The screenplay was written by Sajeer Baba, Ismail Aboobacker, and Bilal Moidu, with dialogues handled by Adarsh Sukumaran, Shabas Rasheed, and Sajeer Baba. Mysskin makes his Malayalam debut in a key supporting role, alongside Antony Varghese, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Vinay Forrt, Parth Tiwari, Aadam, and Ashish Mathew.
The digital release will be available in five languages: Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. This multilingual rollout aims to extend reach beyond the film’s original regional audience. But given the lack of buzz, the absence of awards recognition, and the tepid response during its theatrical run, it’s unlikely to spark a resurgence.
Still, for those who missed it in cinemas, or never saw it at all, November 6 offers a chance to witness what could have been. Or what wasn’t.
The game begins. On JioHotstar.
