Inde Navarrette has officially joined the MCU’s new X-Men film — and she’s not taking the role lightly. The 25-year-old Obsession star, confirmed at D23 in August, is stepping into Rogue’s boots with a promise: justice. Not just for the character, but for fans who’ve waited years to see her reborn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She told the LA Times she’s ‘doing everything humanly possible’, studying the comic lore, absorbing every version of the mutant with power-siphoning touch, and preparing for the weight of legacy. Anna Paquin played Rogue across five films, from 2000’s X-Men to 2014’s Days of Future Past. Now, Navarrette inherits a role that’s as much about emotional baggage as it is about superpowers.

The film, directed by Jake Schreier. Helmer of Thunderbolts*, is shaping up to be a full reboot. Sadie Sink, fresh off her Jean Grey debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, joins as a key player. So do Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Samara Weaving, Maya Boyd, and Adam Driver, whose casting adds a layer of unpredictability. No word yet on whether Rogue’s signature red-and-black suit will make an appearance. Or if this version will lean into the darker, more grounded tone Schreier’s known for.

Rogue first appeared in The Avengers Annual #10 (1981), a deep-cut origin that’s been reinterpreted across decades. Her powers? Super strength, flight, speed, durability, and the curse of touching someone and stealing their life force. That’s not just a power set. It’s a metaphor. And Navarrette’s already treating it like one.

The movie doesn’t have a release date yet. But with the cast locked in and Schreier at the helm, the next phase is likely pre-production. One thing’s certain: this isn’t just another superhero entry. It’s a reckoning. For Rogue. For the franchise. And for anyone who still remembers what it felt like to believe in mutants.
