Officials pulled samples from two Malharganj and Siyaganj traders on Wednesday, with one warehouse flagged for running without a food licence.

Indore's food safety department seized edible oil worth an estimated Rs 21 lakh on Wednesday, part of a drive to check oil coming in from other states and districts, according to the Free Press Journal. Officials moved through Malharganj and Siyaganj, pulled 11 samples in total, and walked away with around 10,500 litres of oil.
The biggest catch was at Shyam and Shyam Oils Private Limited in Malharganj. Officials say the warehouse was running without the required food licence, and they collected nine samples there alone, covering Sona Sikka groundnut oil and Kachchi Ghani mustard oil across different pack sizes. That's the batch that's now headed to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal.
The seizure itself, all 10,500 litres of it, came out of that one warehouse.
Across town in Siyaganj, the team also stopped by Shankar Mahadev Traders on Main Road, where they lifted samples of Premium Refined Groundnut Oil and Gulab Cold Pressed Groundnut Oil for testing.
No penalties yet. Officials say further legal action depends on what the lab reports say once the samples are tested in Bhopal, and there's no timeline given for when those results land.
The Food Safety Administration says this isn't a one-off. The department has framed it as an ongoing campaign to check edible oil entering Indore from outside the district, aimed at catching adulteration before it reaches kitchens. Whether that means more warehouse raids in the coming weeks isn't spelled out, but the language suggests this is the start of a sustained push rather than a single Wednesday sweep.
For now, the two traders wait on lab results, and the department says the checks continue.
