Irumudi isn't slowing down in a hurry. The Ravi Teja starrer picked up Rs 5.75 crore on its third Saturday, according to Pinkvilla, a dip of just 10 per cent from Friday. For a film three weekends deep, that's a soft landing, not a fall.

Almost every rupee of that Saturday number came from the Telugu states. The overseas and Hindi belt have largely moved on. Doesn't matter much here. This was always a home-turf story.

The India cume now stands at Rs 187.25 crore gross, with roughly Rs 169 crore of that sitting in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone. Pinkvilla's trade estimates put the weekend close at Rs 193-194 crore, which means the Rs 200 crore mark won't fall on a weekend at all. It'll land midweek, sometime after Monday, on the back of steady weekday footfalls rather than a big single-day push.

The more interesting number is the one still up for grabs in the Telugu states themselves. Irumudi was expected to cross Rs 200 crore in APTS on its own last weekend. That now looks tighter, not guaranteed. Only seven Telugu films have ever crossed that line in the region, and the list is not a fair comparison across the board.

Here's why. Nearly all of those seven hit Rs 200 crore with ticket prices bumped up for the release, a standard move for big Telugu tentpoles chasing a number. Baahubali 2 is the one exception, and even that came with 2017 hiked rates that, adjusted for time, now sit roughly where today's non-hiked rates already are. So even the exception isn't quite clean.

Irumudi, if it gets there, does it at regular ticket prices. No surge, no special premium shows inflating the per-screen average. That means the actual footfall count behind an Irumudi Rs 200 crore would be higher than what most of those seven films drew to hit the same number on paper. A bigger crowd for a smaller-looking ticket rate, which is the harder way to get to a milestone and arguably the more honest one.

Whether Irumudi actually crosses that Telugu-states line is still open. The film needs a few more solid weekdays without a sharp drop, and Ravi Teja's recent track record suggests audiences haven't tired of him yet. The India-wide Rs 200 crore club is close to a lock. The Rs 200 crore in APTS alone is the number worth watching over the coming week.
