The tribute itself has been in the works for a while. Rahman had recorded a song with Bhosle before she passed, and the plan has always been to put it out on her birth anniversary. What's new here is the shape the celebration is taking, one built around younger names from the industry standing alongside the archival material, rather than a straight reissue.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the event is being positioned to recreate elements of a bigger, star-studded celebration Rahman had reportedly envisioned while Bhosle was still alive. Whether that means a live event, a film, or something purely for the song's rollout hasn't been spelled out yet. Rahman's posts have stayed deliberately light on production detail.

What is clear is the intent. Bringing in an actor with no direct musical connection to Bhosle, and doing it through a personal ask to her father, is Rahman signalling that this tribute isn't meant for people who already know every Bhosle record by heart. It's aimed at an audience that knows Janhvi Kapoor first and Asha Bhosle by reputation.

For Janhvi, the timing is notable too. She's spent the past couple of years being talked about more for her range of roles than for anything tied to her family's musical history, so a Rahman-Bhosle project puts her in a very different kind of frame, even if her role in the tribute hasn't been detailed beyond her name appearing in Rahman's thank-you post.

No date has been confirmed for the release beyond "her birth anniversary," and Rahman hasn't said whether more names will be added before then. Given how the post was phrased, thanking one collaborator at a time, it wouldn't be a surprise if more #ComingSoon reveals follow before the song actually drops.
