Jen Affleck has filed for divorce from Zac Affleck, just days before the premiere of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County on November 12. The split, confirmed by court documents obtained by Variety and TMZ, marks the end of a seven-year marriage that has been laid bare across five seasons of Hulu’s reality series.

The couple met in 2018 on the Mormon dating app Mutual, got engaged the following year, and married in June 2019. They’ve since welcomed three children — Nora, Luca, and Penelope, and are expecting their fourth. Their move from Utah to Orange County lately set the stage for the new spin-off, which centers on their lives in Southern California.

On screen, their relationship has been anything but clean. Season 1 featured a now-infamous confrontation when Jen considered attending a Chippendales show with her #MomTok co-stars during a cast trip to Las Vegas, prompting Zac to threaten divorce. She later spoke publicly about his struggles with gambling and the emotional toll of navigating their issues while pregnant.

In August, she told People that “there’s a lot that we’ve been navigating behind closed doors” as she approached her fourth pregnancy. “It’s been a lot the past couple of months, I’ll be honest,” she said at the time. “But I do feel like I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and just trying to count my blessings every single day.” Despite those challenges, she also acknowledged they’d worked through difficulties in therapy, calling it a bond-strengthening experience.

Now, the legal separation is underway. The filing was made in Utah, and Jen has submitted a proposed parenting plan, though details remain private. Court records do not disclose the reasons for the split or the custody arrangements she’s seeking. What’s clear is that the line between public performance and private life has once again blurred.

And the cameras, whether on or off, have captured another chapter closing.
