On Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Kajal Aggarwal reflected on her two films with Prabhas and picked a clear favourite between them.
Kajal Aggarwal thinks Prabhas doesn't just have superstardom, he was built for it. Speaking on a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, the actress didn't hedge. "Prabhas is a superstar. He was born to be a superstar. And he also knows it," she said.
That last line does some work. It's not just praise, it's an observation about self-awareness, the kind actors rarely credit each other with in public. Kajal went further, talking about how he operates behind the scenes. "He is extremely hardworking. And he is very clear about his objective. He knows where he is headed. He knows, I will do this, I will do that. His roadmap is very clear," she said.
Kajal has two Prabhas films to her name. Darling, from 2010, and Mr Perfect. Asked to pick between them on the podcast, she went with Darling without much hesitation. The romantic drama has aged into something of a fan favourite over the years, and Kajal's answer suggests it holds up for her too, fifteen-odd years on.
This isn't the first time someone from Prabhas's orbit has gone on record with this kind of warmth. Fauzi cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee recently spoke about the actor in similarly personal terms, saying he has "very honest eyes" that come through on camera. Colleagues keep circling back to the same idea. Big star, sure, but also someone who's easy to work with and clearly ambitious about where his career goes next.
And there's a lot of career left to talk about. Prabhas currently has four major projects lined up. Fauzi is one. Spirit is another, still one of the most talked-about titles on his slate. Then there's Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2, the sequel to a film that reshaped what a Telugu tentpole could look like at the box office. And Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam, which fans have been waiting on since the first film's cliffhanger.
None of these have firm release dates yet. But between the sequels, the new collaborations and comments like Kajal's, the drumbeat around Prabhas's next phase is only getting louder. The real test, as always, is whether the films land the way the reputation suggests they will.
