Bigg Boss 20 contestant Kanika Mann reveals abuse by ex-boyfriend in latest episode
Kanika Mann delivered one of the most harrowing confessions in Bigg Boss 20’s history, recounting a relationship that spiraled from early romance into psychological and physical abuse. In a raw, tearful moment during the latest episode, she described how her ex-boyfriend — someone she met in college after feeling left out seeing other girls talk to their partners late at night, transformed into someone who controlled, terrorized, and physically assaulted her.
She recalled the first time he slapped her: not over a fight, but because she wore a striped suit. ‘Phir usne mujhe kis baat pe chataka maara kyunki maine stripes wala suit pehna hua tha,’ she said, voice breaking. The incident happened in front of others, yet no one intervened.
She remembered bleeding from a piercing she’d recently gotten, her face stinging from the blow. He later snatched a photograph from her hand and threw it away, ‘a small thing,’ she said, ‘but it felt like he was erasing me.’ Her fear wasn’t just about violence. It was about silence.
He threatened to call her father if she didn’t come with him. He made the call once. No answer. She still wonders what might’ve changed if he had picked up.
The worst moment came when he followed her from her hostel to her department building. As she stepped inside, he grabbed her hand, pulled her back. It was winter. She was wearing a hoodie.
He took out a chaku. With his own hand, he made three or four deep cuts. ‘Usne mere baal kheeche hue the, bola sindoor lagaunga isse,’ she recalled. She didn’t hesitate, she asked someone nearby to call the police.
He was jailed for two to three days. But even then, threats continued. She admitted she hadn’t told her family about the abuse until now. Studying law for eight to nine months gave her clarity, she said, ‘I finally understood what I’d lived through.’ Co-contestants were stunned.
One called it a ‘violent love story.’ Another said, ‘This isn’t love. This is control.’ Kanika didn’t name him. But she did say, quietly, ‘He deserved to be where he is now.’
