The makers of Anil Ravipudi's Sankranthi entertainer marked Krithi Shetty's birthday by unveiling her traditional look from January 12 Vidudala, which also stars Venkatesh, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and Keerthy Suresh.
Krithi Shetty turned a year older on Sunday, and her Sankranthi film picked the day to give her a proper gift. The makers of January 12 Vidudala released her first look poster from the Anil Ravipudi film, timed to double up as a birthday surprise.
The poster puts her in a half saree, purple and pink through and through, standing against what both 123telugu and Track Tollywood describe as a temple structure. Track Tollywood calls the outfit a velvet langa voni and reads it as a rooted, girl-next-door look built for the festival setting. That's the whole idea here, really. Sankranthi films lean into this kind of imagery every year and Vidudala is playing it straight.
There's a small mismatch worth flagging. 123telugu names her character Deepu. Track Tollywood says she reportedly plays Deepika, and adds that she's paired opposite Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in the film. Either way, she joins Keerthy Suresh as the second female lead in a cast built around Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram, who anchor the film's central conflict.
January 12 Vidudala has been generating chatter since its title reveal, which came through a comic video featuring Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram and landed with the tagline "Bava Bammardi Soujanyamtho." Ravipudi has written and directed the film, and shoot is reportedly moving fast enough that a Sankranthi date already feels locked in. Track Tollywood puts that date at January 12, 2027.
For Krithi Shetty, the timing matters beyond the poster. She arrived with Uppena and the kind of debut that puts a name on every casting shortlist in Hyderabad overnight. What followed hasn't matched it. Track Tollywood is blunt about this, noting a run of films that failed to hold that early momentum, and Vidudala arriving at a stage where she needs a reset. A Ravipudi film releasing in the middle of Sankranthi, alongside two established stars, is about as good a shot at that as any actor gets in this industry right now.
The technical side is stacked to match the scale. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music, Sameer Reddy is behind the camera, Tammiraju is cutting the film and AS Prakash is designing production, with S Krishna as executive producer. Sahu Garapati is producing under the Shine Screens banner, and Suresh Productions, Smt. Archana and Zee Studios are presenting it, which tells you the marketing push isn't going to be small.
What's still missing is a first look at Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram together, or any sense of how their track connects to Krithi Shetty's Deepu, or Deepika, depending on who you ask. With Sankranthi 2027 still months out, expect the poster drops to keep coming one character at a time.
