Soori has confirmed that Mandaadi will return to IMAX screens starting October 9, just one day after its streaming premiere on Netflix. The announcement came via social media, where the actor wrote, "#Mandaadi is back with the Banger Experience once again in #IMAX!" The re-release is being rolled out at PVR Palazzo, capitalizing on audience demand for the film’s cinematic spectacle.

The film, directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, is set in a coastal region of Tamil Nadu and centers on a high-stakes rivalry between two sailboat teams. It features a climactic boat race that drew praise for its technical execution. Mandaadi has already grossed over ₹150 crore worldwide, making it the first film with Soori in the lead role to cross that mark globally.

The cast includes Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Bala Saravanan, Stun Siva, and Mithun Jai Sankar. On the technical side, GV Prakash composed the music, SR Kathir handled cinematography, DRK Kiran designed production, and Pradeep E Ragav edited the film. Stunt coordination was led by Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbarayan, and Mahesh Mathew.

Industry figures have taken notice. Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have publicly praised the film, while Suriya sent personalized cards to the cast and crew. The film’s success has also sparked conversations about regional cinema’s growing reach, especially with Soori’s rise as a leading star.

This dual rollout — simultaneous OTT and IMAX, is unusual but not unprecedented. Still, the decision to bring Mandaadi back to theaters so soon after its digital launch points to its strong audience connection. Fans are calling it a win for those who missed the initial run or want to relive the film’s immersive visuals.

Soori is also set to appear in Ram’s Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, co-starring Nivin Pauly and Anjali, which may further cement his position in pan-Indian cinema. With Mandaadi now in both homes and theaters, the film’s journey continues beyond its opening weekend.
