Mayor of Kingstown’s final season arrives on January 15, 2027 — and it won’t be the kind of goodbye that lets you catch your breath. The Taylor Sheridan-created crime drama, which has spent five seasons dissecting the rot beneath a working-class town’s surface, will conclude with eight episodes instead of the usual ten.

That’s not a sign of slowing down. It’s a signal of tightening focus. The series picks up in the aftermath of Tracy’s murder, with Mike (Jeremy Renner) and Kyle McLusky (Taylor Handley) exacting vengeance on Callahan. Now, FBI agent Russell Hardy (David Morse), described as a ‘true lawman,’ arrives in Kingstown to hunt down the fugitive.

His mission? To unearth every sin, every secret, and dismantle the fragile power structure that keeps the town from collapsing entirely. The stakes aren’t just personal. They’re existential.

This isn’t just about one man’s past. It’s about what happens when the system finally comes knocking. The cast returns in full: Edie Falco as Nina Hobba, Laura Benanti as Cindy Stephens, Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson, Tobi Bamtefa as Deverin “Bunny” Washington, Derek Webster as Stevie, Necar Zadegan as Evelyn, Nichole Galicia as Rebecca, and Lennie James as Frank Moses.

All were confirmed in official updates from Paramount+. Filming wrapped on June 30. Renner took to Instagram that day to thank the crew, reflecting on how the show helped him rebuild after his 2023 snowplow accident. ‘Today we are filled with gratitude,’ he wrote.

‘I am so very thankful for all of your support over the years, it has given my stride and purpose in my recovery and love in my heart.’ The series was co-created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, with both serving as executive producers alongside Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, Michael Slovis, Regina Corrado, and Keith Cox. Erickson is the showrunner.

Sheridan directed the pilot. Production is handled by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. The first look photos, a gallery of 15 images, dropped alongside the announcement, showing Renner’s Mike locked in silent tension, Morse’s Hardy scanning the town like a storm on the horizon. One year ago, Season 4 ended on a note of brutal clarity: some threads tied off, others left dangling.

Now, the final chapter begins. No more second chances. Just blood, silence, and the weight of everything left unsaid. The question isn’t who survives.

It’s whether anyone walks away clean.
