Paul McCartney didn’t just show up at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding — he got a personal request. On Friday night, the 84-year-old legend revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that Swift asked him to perform ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ at her July 3 nuptials in New York. Not just any version. She wanted it live, with her singing along, to Kelce.

McCartney obliged, of course. And then added his own twist: “You should sing it to your man,” he told her, drawing laughs from the studio audience. The song, released in 1964, was The Beatles’ first US number one and a catalyst for Beatlemania after their Ed Sullivan Show debut.

The reception room, set up after vows were exchanged, became a makeshift stage. According to Page Six, Swift’s mom Andrea invited guests inside, where McCartney took the mic. Stevie Nicks also reportedly performed, turning the event into a full-blown musical marathon that ran into the next morning.

This isn’t the first time McCartney and Swift have crossed paths. They’ve been friends for years. Once shared a Rolling Stone cover. In 2024, McCartney attended an Eras Tour show at Wembley, days after turning 82. Earlier this year, Swift was spotted at his Fonda Theatre concert in LA.

Back in May, McCartney praised Swift on BBC Radio 2, calling her “very good” and “very clever.” He noted the parallels between her global fame and The Beatles’ rise, but added, dryly: “I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth.”

So yes, the world’s most iconic pop couple got married. And the man who wrote the blueprint for modern stardom showed up to sing a love song that changed everything.

Now, the real question: did they actually do it? Did Swift belt out those lyrics to Kelce under the lights? No confirmation yet. But if the footage surfaces, it’ll be worth every second.
