Five days in, and Mirzapur: The Movie is doing exactly what a franchise this big is supposed to do at the box office. Excel Entertainment's big-screen spinoff of the OTT hit has pulled in 181.16 crore worldwide, and it needs only about 15 crore more to get past Welcome To The Jungle's 196.1 crore. That would make it the sixth-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2026 and push it past the 200 crore mark globally in one move.
The film, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and led by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Ravi Kishan, added close to 22 crore globally on its fifth day, Tuesday, September 8. Overseas alone has brought in 27 crore across those five days. Not a runaway number by itself, but stacked on top of a strong domestic run, it's enough to keep the film climbing the yearly chart at a decent clip.
Here's the number that matters most to the people who greenlit this thing. Mirzapur: The Movie was made on a budget of 90 crore. It has already collected a net 130.64 crore in India, which works out to a net profit of 40.64 crore and a return on investment of 45.16 percent, according to Koimoi's tracking. Four days in the black on a franchise bet, and still climbing. Studios don't get many results this clean.
Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 remains the film to beat this year and shows no sign of giving up the top spot. But in the tier just below it, Mirzapur: The Movie has been quietly bulldozing its way up. It's already gone past Cocktail 2, Hanuman Ansh and the Hindi-dubbed version of Toxic, and now sits at number seven on the 2026 leaderboard, according to Koimoi's numbers.
What happens next depends on how much juice is left in the extended weekend. The film cleared its first Friday-to-Sunday cycle comfortably, and day five's near-22 crore suggests the drop hasn't been brutal. If Wednesday and Thursday hold anywhere close to that pace, the jump past Welcome To The Jungle should come within the week, not the fortnight.
There's also the franchise math to consider. Mirzapur built its audience over three seasons on Amazon Prime Video before this theatrical extension, and the crossover has clearly worked in ways a cold theatrical launch rarely does. Whether that pattern repeats for the next streaming-to-screen bet is the question studios will be watching this space to answer.
For now, the film sits one good weekend away from a round number and a higher rung on the 2026 chart. Excel Entertainment will be watching Wednesday's numbers closely, because the next 15 crore decides whether this becomes a 200 crore story or just a very good one.
