Six days in, and Mirzapur The Movie has quietly climbed into the top 10 films of the year at the Indian box office.
The film added ₹12.58 crore on its first Wednesday, per estimates reported by Koimoi. That's a drop of 19.87% from Tuesday's ₹15.7 crore, the kind of dip you'd expect once the opening-weekend crowd thins out. But even a down day was enough to do two things at once.
First, it gave the Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal starrer Bollywood's third-biggest first Wednesday of 2026. It sits behind Border 2, which pulled ₹15.04 crore on the equivalent day, and comfortably ahead of Awarapan 2, which managed ₹7 crore on its own first Wednesday.
Second, and more significant for where this film lands in the year's pecking order, the ₹12.58 crore pushed the running net total to ₹143.22 crore. That's enough to slide past Welcome To The Jungle's ₹137.93 crore and claim the No. 8 spot among 2026's highest-grossing Hindi films in India. The gross number, factoring in taxes, stands at ₹169 crore.
None of this should surprise anyone who's tracked the film since its opening. Directed off the back of the Mirzapur web series and carrying its entire returning cast — Tripathi, Fazal, Ravi Kishan, Divyendu Sharma and Jitendra Kumar all back as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu, Munna and company, the film walked into theatres with a built-in audience that Amazon Prime Video spent years cultivating across three seasons. Converting streaming loyalty into ticket sales isn't automatic. This one managed it.
What happens next is the more interesting question. Day 7 falls on the first Thursday, traditionally the day when a film's true legs get tested once the extended opening period ends. Koimoi's report suggests another double-digit day is likely, which would push the film past the ₹150 crore mark in net collections before the week is out.
That 150 crore line matters less as a round number and more as a signal. Crime dramas built on ensemble casts rather than a single star don't always sustain themselves into a second week. If Mirzapur The Movie keeps posting double digits into Friday, it starts making a case for a longer theatrical run than most trade watchers initially gave it. If Thursday sees a sharper fall, the ₹150 crore milestone might arrive but the film's climb up the 2026 rankings could stall right there, just short of the top five.
Either way, the number to watch this week isn't the total. It's the day-on-day drop.
