Seven days in, and Mirzapur The Movie has done something only two other Hindi releases managed all year: cross Rs 150 crore net in a single opening week.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, cited by both Koimoi and Bollywood Bubble, the Gurmmeet Singh-directed film earned Rs 10.55 crore on its first Thursday across over 10,000 shows. The two outlets differ slightly on the exact domestic net total after that Thursday, Koimoi puts it at Rs 153.77 crore, Bollywood Bubble at Rs 148.45 crore, but both agree the film either has crossed or is about to cross Rs 150 crore net at home before the week is out.
That's enough to make Mirzapur The Movie Bollywood's third biggest opening week of 2026, per Koimoi's numbers. It sits behind Border 2's Rs 244.97 crore and ahead of Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, which managed Rs 117.66 crore in its first week. For a film built around three seasons of streaming baggage and a cast that hasn't traditionally been asked to open theatrical numbers, that's not a small thing.
The day-wise graph tells its own story. Rs 25.75 crore on Friday, climbing to Rs 32 crore and then Rs 36 crore across the weekend, before the usual weekday correction kicked in: Rs 16 crore Monday, Rs 15.60 crore Tuesday, Rs 12.55 crore Wednesday, and Rs 10.55 crore on Thursday. Koimoi calculated the Wednesday-to-Thursday drop at 16.13%, which in trade terms counts as a good hold rather than a collapse. Nobody's panicking about front-loading here.
Worldwide, the film's gross now stands at Rs 212.44 crore, according to Bollywood Bubble, with overseas contributing Rs 35.50 crore of that. Against a reported production budget of Rs 90 crore, cited by Koimoi, the film has already recovered its cost several times over on gross numbers alone, though net-versus-gross math always needs the usual caveats about distributor and exhibitor cuts.
Credit for the extended shelf life goes partly to the calendar. Koimoi notes there's been no real competitive threat from Haiwaan, the Akshay Kumar release that opened in the same window, which has let Mirzapur The Movie hold its shows rather than get squeezed out for a bigger title.
The cast, led by Pankaj Tripathi's Kaleen Bhaiyya, Ali Fazal's Guddu and Divyenndu's Munna, alongside Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Ravi Kishan, has effectively translated a streaming-era fan base into theatrical footfall, something that doesn't happen automatically even for shows with three seasons of goodwill behind them.
The question now is whether the second week holds anywhere near this pace once the front-loaded fan turnout thins out, and whether the Telugu-dubbed version keeps adding to a worldwide tally that's already past the Rs 200 crore mark.
