Thirteen days in, and Mirzapur: The Movie is still finding money in cinemas most films have long since vacated.

The film added an estimated Rs 3.75 crore nett on its second Wednesday, according to trade tracking cited by Pinkvilla, pushing the cumulative total to around Rs 194 crore nett. That's the day after a discount Tuesday, which usually props up numbers artificially. This one held anyway.

Do the math and Thursday should tip the film over the Rs 200 crore nett mark, a milestone that matters more for the trade conversation around it than for the film itself, which was never really chasing a number so much as proving a point.

The point being: a web series can move to the big screen and still pull an audience that already knows how the story ends, or at least thinks it does. Mirzapur: The Movie is an interquel, slotted into the gap around the first season, built around Akhandanand "Kaleen" Tripathi and the fear he runs Mirzapur on. Familiar territory for anyone who's sat through the show. Apparently that familiarity sells tickets rather than killing curiosity.

Trade estimates now put the second week at close to Rs 55 crore nett, a reasonable hold rather than a spectacular one, which is fine. Second weeks rarely match openers and nobody expected this one to. What matters is the shape of the drop, and so far the shape looks manageable.

Where does it end up? Pinkvilla's projections have the film comfortably crossing Rs 225 crore nett, with a lifetime figure likely landing somewhere between Rs 230 and 240 crore nett. That would make it one of the more emphatic OTT-to-theatre conversions in recent memory, up there with the handful of streaming titles that have actually justified a cinema release rather than just tested one.

Worth flagging that none of these numbers are final. They're trade estimates, compiled from advance bookings, occupancy trends and market chatter, not audited studio figures. The usual caveat applies: daily collections can swing on a festival weekend, a fresh discount push, or simply how many screens hold on versus how many get reallocated to whatever opens next.

For now the trajectory is what matters. A second Wednesday that doesn't collapse is the strongest signal a film can send this deep into its run. Mirzapur: The Movie has sent it. The Rs 200 crore crossing should land sometime Thursday, and after that, the only real question is how close the film gets to that Rs 240 crore ceiling before theatres finally move on.
