Nana Patekar’s final post-mortem report has confirmed the cause of death as a natural one — specifically, a massive heart attack triggered by a blood clot in the main coronary artery. The findings, issued by a team of doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim, were shared with the Goa Police and then relayed to IANS. With the family, including his son Malhar Patekar and nephew Prasad Patekar. Accepting the medical report and raising no objections, the police are expected to close the unnatural death case soon. The investigation had initially been launched under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), with the case registered as UD No. 62/2026 in Panaji. According to the report, the clot disrupted blood flow to the heart, leading to cardiac arrest. At around 2:30 am on October 8, Patekar had messaged a family friend about feeling unwell. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, where doctors attempted resuscitation for nearly 45 minutes before declaring him dead. His body was flown to Pune, where he was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje on Thursday. The funeral was marked by a three-gun salute. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid his respects at Pune airport before departing for Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the farmhouse to offer condolences. A large crowd gathered to bid farewell. Among those present were longtime friends and colleagues from the film fraternity: Jackie Shroff, directors Anil Sharma and Anees Bazmee, and producer Firoz Nadiadwala. The actor, a National Award winner known for his intense screen presence and powerful performances, leaves behind a legacy that spanned decades.
