Nani’s next film is a love story — and it’s meant for kids. That’s the word from the actor himself, who confirmed the project just days after wrapping Bloody Romeo, the crime-comedy he’s calling ‘a very theatrical, stylish experience’ with a twist by director Sujeeth. No plot details yet, but Nani described it as ‘subtle and sweet’, something that even children can enjoy, a nod to the way young fans always rush to him at public events. He didn’t say when it starts filming, or who’s directing it beyond hinting at a fresh creative direction after the mixed reception of The Paradise. That film, set in the 1980s and starring Nani as Jadal, a tribal rebel rising against feudal oppression, was directed by Srikanth Odela and featured Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni, and Keerthy Suresh in cameos. The music was by Anirudh Ravichander. Bloody Romeo itself remains shrouded in mystery. Only that it’s a genre blend with action and wit, and that Prithviraj Sukumaran might have a key role. The film was announced on Nani’s birthday earlier this year. Now, the focus shifts: what kind of love story will follow? And how soon? The answer isn’t out, but the cast list is already being speculated about. One thing’s certain: after a bloody rebellion, Nani’s stepping into something softer. Maybe even sweet.
