Twitter reactions after Wednesday's premiere shows call the Srikanth Odela film a first-half blockbuster, even as some viewers say the thick Telangana dialogue needs subtitles.
Premiere shows for The Paradise finally rolled out on Wednesday night, and if early reactions on Twitter are anything to go by, the wait might have been worth it for most.
The film, a Nani and Srikanth Odela collaboration that had been pushed back more times than anyone can count, opened to fan celebrations outside theatres across the Telugu states. Crackers, posters, the works. According to Oneindia Telugu, tickets in the Nizam region were already running out before the film had even finished its first day of shows, with weekend availability looking tight if the buzz holds.
A lot of that pre-release heat came from just two songs. Anirudh Ravichander's music, going by social media chatter, had already pushed expectations into blockbuster territory without most people having seen a trailer, which says something about how much trust there is in this particular pairing.
On the film itself, the early word is that the first half is landing well. Viewers on Twitter have singled out the introduction scenes for both Nani and veteran Mohan Babu, who plays a villain the source describes by name as Sikandar Malik. Several posts suggest his menace is getting talked about more than Nani's heroics, which is not a small thing to say about a film built around a mass hero. A jail fight sequence is also getting called out as a highlight, and the interval block, timed to Anirudh's score, is being described as the kind of moment theatres are shaking over.
Not everyone is fully sold, though. A recurring complaint is that the dialogue, written in a dense, specific Telangana dialect, is hard to follow for audiences outside that belt. More than one viewer has said subtitles would have helped. There is also a smaller group arguing that outside the Ayyashare track, the first half doesn't quite hit the heights the promotions promised.
Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead opposite Nani, and her scenes are drawing appreciation too, though the bulk of the online conversation so far is focused squarely on Nani and Mohan Babu.
Worth flagging that all of this is premiere-night Twitter chatter, not a full critical verdict. Trade numbers and proper reviews will start filling in through Thursday as the film opens worldwide. The Paradise is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, and after a release journey this long, the producers will be watching the first weekend collections as closely as anyone on X is watching the interval bang clips.
Whether the positive early talk converts into sustained business, or whether the language barrier chips away at wider reach, should become clear once the weekend numbers are in.
