The Hindi-dubbed version of Nani’s The Paradise has wrapped its theatrical run with a quiet but notable performance: 10.5 crore net at the Indian box office, translating to 12.39 crore gross. That’s not a headline-grabbing number — it’s barely above the 8-crore net target set for the Hindi market. But when you factor in the film’s 200-crore production budget and the fact that the original Telugu version is already being labeled a commercial disappointment despite being Nani’s highest-grossing film to date, the Hindi result takes on a different shape.

It wasn’t just a pass. It was a surprise. The Natural Star isn’t widely known in Hindi-language circuits, yet his latest action thriller opened at 2.15 crore net, over two crores. A figure that defied expectations given his limited footprint beyond South India.

Over the course of its run, the film multiplied its opening-day collection by nearly five times. That kind of growth is rare for a non-starring-in-Hindi release, especially one that faced poor reviews and weak word-of-mouth. Still, it held on long enough to clear its target. By earning 2.5 crore more than projected, it achieved a 31.25% return on investment, a margin Koimoi classifies as a ‘plus verdict’ at the Indian box office.

The film, directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri and Ishan Saksena under Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Cinemas and IVY Entertainment, stars Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni, and Raghav Juyal in pivotal roles. Its Telugu original was built on high anticipation and strong goodwill, which helped it top Nani’s previous earnings.

Yet even that success couldn’t offset the financial risk of a 200-crore budget. The Hindi dub, meanwhile, didn’t rely on star power. It leaned on narrative momentum. Or perhaps audience curiosity about a film that had already stirred conversation, even if mostly negative.

What’s next? Netflix will stream The Paradise globally on October 22. That’s where the real reckoning begins. Theatrical numbers are one thing.

Streaming reach is another. And while the Hindi version may have cleared its target, the question remains: can it sustain interest beyond the multiplex? For now, the numbers stand. Not a hit.
